Patients find NightLase® to be a highly comfortable and satisfying solution. NightLase® requires no device to be worn during sleep and involves no chemical treatment. It’s a gentle and easy way for patients to regain a good night’s rest.
NightLase® therapy is for cases when the patient has been diagnosed with chronic snoring, UARS, or mild to moderate sleep apnea and either cannot or chooses not to wear an appliance or CPAP device.
It can also be used with those devices to improve their effects and represents a less invasive alternative to current surgical, chemical or radio surgical options that may require hospitalization, general anaesthesia or soft-tissue mutilation. Unlike surgery, NightLase® is a non-invasive procedure that doesn’t involve injections, cutting, bleeding or sutures.
NightLase® is a simple procedure, with no down time.
There is no preparation required prior to treatment, and there is no need for pain killers, antibiotics or any other medications after treatment.
NightLase® employs the use of Fotona’s LightWalker Er:YAG part of a twin laser with a specifically designed handpiece to strengthen, tighten, and shrink the paraphryngeal tissues, soft palate, uvula, tonsil area and oropharynx. that surround the top part of the airway that we breathe through and cause or take part in snoring and sleep apnea problems. The base of the tongue can also be treated. All this decreases or eliminates the snoring and/or sleep apnea problems.
A reduction in snoring should become apparent immediately after treatment. Neocollagenesis (prodiction of new collagen fibres) continues to improve results in the six months following a course of treatments.
What is your part of the deal?
No pain, no scalpels, no stiches, no scarring of palatial tissues as in other techniques.
There can be some mild discomfort due to heat during the procedure, but if necessary, this can easily be relieved with a local anaesthetic spray.
You can immediately return to your normal life, but it is advisable to avoid hot drinks, hard foods and raising your voice excessively for a few days. Most patients experience no side effects at all.
Some people might experience minor issues such as a mild sore throat. Occasionally, there can be slight ulcerations in the areas treated that heal naturally within a week.
Three to five treatment sessions are recommended. While an improvement is often noticed after the initial session, subsequent sessions ensure optimal long-lasting relief from snoring.
Heavy smokers, patients with high BMI, or high alcohol consumption may have less optimal results with the treatment. We can help/refer you to resolve these issues too!
